Päivi Tahkokallio has worked at STAKES, the National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health in Finland since March 2000, developing Design for All strategies and tools to support implementation of DfA approach both in public and private sector in Finland. At present she is the co-ordinator of the Finnish Design for All Centres of Excellence Network [http://www.stakes.fi/DfA-Suomi/]. The Finnish DfA Network is a member in the European Design for All e-Accessibility Network EDeAN [http://www.e-accessibility.org]. Päivi Tahkokallio has participated in a number of EU funded projects [SeniorWatch, GENIE, DASDA, IDCnet, IDIA].
She worked for the University of Art and Design Helsinki UIAH in 1992-2000, developing design research and university-industry collaborative projects both nationally and internationally, with a special focus on Design for All.
Päivi Tahkokallio was the President of European Insitute for Design and Disability EIDD from 2001 till April 2003, and has been a member of the EIDD Board since 1996 [http://www.design-for-all.-org]. She is currently a member of the Design Advisory Board at RSA, The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce in London, UK [http://www.rsa.org.uk]. She has lectured on Design for All in Europe, USA and Japan.
